Bad 3g reception on my cellphone

There seems to be a misunderstanding to what my problem is. I have a problem with 3g signal on my Galaxy S4 (Cellphone). When I got home the other night there is a MTN sharelink and an antenna installed. I spoke to Pilot from Lat mile technologies yesterday and he advised that I must buy a simcard and a data bundle for it to be functional. Please advise if this is the right solution for my issue. I don't want to incur any additional cost for a MTN 3g issue on my Galaxy s4 cellphone.
