Telkom ignoring written request to cancel contract

I have a mobile contract with 8ta which expired on 4 December. On 7 November I contacted Telkom customer care to ask them to cancel my contract as soon as it expires, knowing that they want 1 month notice. I was told by two separate agents to send a email request to [Email Removed] which I did.By two weeks later I had received no reply. I contacted customer care again and was told to just wait it out and see. On 22 November I forwarded the request to [Email Removed] again, asking for confirmation of receipt. Again no reply. Today is 6 December and my contract has expired. I phoned customer care again to find out if the contract has been cancelled. I was told no it is still active and there is no order for cancellation on the system. I will be expected to pay the full contract fees for another month. The agent now tells me to go to a Telkom store and ask them to cancel the contract for me. It seems Telkom had no problem debiting my account every month, but now that I want to cancel my contract I get ZERO support from them and they are essentially starting to my money one month at time. If I cancel the debit order, it may affect my credit record negatively.
