Cant cancel contract

I have been trying to convert a topup contract with MTN to a prepaid account. This is seem to be a near impossible task. My first attempt was to go to the Benmore Gardens Mtn branch. After waiting in line to speak to a have half asleep consultant that had a distinct "homeaffairs" aura about her she told be that I needed to phone customer care and that they cannot do it at the branch. So I did. I endured little bits of MTN marketing interposed by long silences. Finally a human answered the phone and told me that she needed to transfer me to the cancellation department. She did. The cancellation department ended up being a telephonic black hole of some sort. Complete silence. I waiting for while and then hung up. I figured that I could phone the cancellation department directly. So I googled "MTN cancellation" department. I came across a support page [URL Removed] This seemed to be very helpful and offered a number to phone. With much anticipation I phoned the number but to my dismay it ended up being the fax number. I would like to convert my contract to prepaid.
