Unauthorized upgrade of contract

When I made a phone call to Vodacom, attempting to close my Internet bundle/promotion ("MyMeg500) contract which had reached its end date, I was told that my account was upgraded to another contract which included and iPhone - of which I did not request nor authorised. I don't understand how this could happen as I believe that there should be certain checks and balances in their system i.e. 1. Verifying proof of ID, 2. Recent payslips, 3. Proof of Residence, 4. My signature. I need to recompensated for this inconvenience of what seems to be a fradualent upgrade on my vodacom cell# "0713345660". This is appauling as it implies that any one from the street can just open an account in our names as vodacom customers and it begs the question of whether vodacom can be trusted in my view? If this happened so easily to me, I wonder how many innocent customers are susceptible to such? I would request all customers to check their statements regularly to monitor any irregullar behaviour. Then you have to fax through an affidavit to Vodacom to get this sorted out. This is customer's money and time we are speaking about...
