Incompetent Staff giving wrong information

On the 24th October 2013 I went to Cell C East gate mall to cancel my contract for an iPhone 4s which I had dropped and no longer had the device. I was attended to by Ricardo Pillay. I explained to him that I needed to cancel my contract and would like to know what the procedure would be and whether there was a contract commitment fee I would need to pay.

Ricardo checked on the system and informed me that the would be no commitment fee owed by me to cancel the contract. He even showed me the computer screen. I then completed the form and was provided with a reference number for the cancellation. Today, 13 November 2013 I received a call from the same Ricardo Pillay to provide me with a reference number again. I then asked him to send me the form that I completed which had the reference number. On receipt of the form I realise the initial number has been scratched out and a new one at the bottom. With a note on the right that says I am liable for R4200.00 commitment fee.

He calls me back with a bag full of attitude about how I am now liable for that amount when I was initially told otherwise. I now have two contract that I need to pay because of his incompetence!! What is this?
