IPhone repair troubles

Telecommunications

My phone's battery died on the 25th of October 2013. When I tried to charge it, it simply wouldn't switch on, as it should when being charged. I then went to Vodacom Repairs in Alberton where it was booked in and I was informed that it would be back within 7 days.

7 days later, I called them and was told that I am being quoted for an amount of R1500. I was confused because my phone is under warranty and that doesn't make sense. I then went in to the store, and upon my arrival I was then told that the phone was still being assessed by technicians. Already I felt that was a waste of my weekend time.

This morning, I was told that there is a "new" quote that had been put on the phone. This time it was R3250. "Physical damage" at the bottom of the phone was the reason given. However when assessed on the 26th of October, none of this visible physical damage was apparent. It sure was news to me because I have never dropped the phone and it remains in a protective cover all the time. I highly suspect that the damage was done at the repairs center. I'm failing to understand how a battery problem, led to "physical damage" which led to an initial quote being doubled within 4 days?
