Telkom tells us we cannot get adsl!?

So for about 6 years wherever I have moved telkom has been pretty good with service and such. Recently me and my dad moved to a farm in greenbushes and as I study online, internet is a must.

For about the first 2 months since we moved here we went back an forth with telkom both in greenacres and in walker drive stating we can get adsl then we can't then they were going to check etc etc

About a week ago we were told brand new fibre optic lines would be put in our greenbushes side so obviously we were excited. But upon finding out we cannot get adsl still? I mean our house is about 1km away from where these new lines are and were only afew houses in the whole of greenbushes that cannot get adsl? Surely if we can almost see the lines from our house and can walk to the lines in afew minutes then we can maybe use them aswell?

I'm not really gunning telkom as they have been loyal to us over the years, but I would like to know why afew of us living less that a km away cannot get adsl while brand new lines are being built
