Factory Fault

In December I upgrade to HTC. Still in December on night I unclock my phone (it is a touch screen) and the glass of the screen crack.
So I sent the phone for MTN in George mall for repair as it is a factory fault because how can a screen just crack. After a week they sent me a quote from R1700 for the repair of the phone I phone them and tell them that its not my fault the phone crack so they tell my they dont cover the glass but now must I pay for a phone that was a factory fault.
What must I do.
