Vodacom
Clearly bad manufacturing-not customer negligence

Telecommunications

Two weeks ago LCD inside my Motorola Razr/Spydr (XT910/912) phone cracked without any specific reason. 5 min before I noticed crack and screen went completely black I was using it for GPS as I usually do. Device was quite hot and I believe this caused actual LCD to crack. Just to mention here that I never dropped it, put pressure on device or anything similar and this can be proved easily by observing phone itself as there are no scratches or dents - phone looks and is as brand new as it is still under warranty, 6 months old.
I took phone to Vodacom Repair centre in Century City and they were quite surprised when they took a look at it because front panel glass as well as whole device doesn't even has 1 scratch while LCD inside has crack - 1 straight line. They just returned device to me and said I need to pay for screen replacement (quoted R3830).
I've done a lot of research and found out that this is a very well known fault with this specific model of Motorola. I am sure Vodacom repair centre knows this from other users?
Why would I need to pay R3830 for something which is clearly awful manufacturing? Can't Vodacom as my service provider take this up on my behalf with Motorola?
