R8K Charge for a Blacklisted/ SIM

Telecommunications

4 weeks ago we were robbed whilst in our own home. Thankfully we were not hurt in any way. The took an iPad, iPhone and work-issued Blackberry.

Within 20 minutes of the all the necessary companies had been advised of the and the police contacted. MTN confirmed the personal SIM had been listed as and tbus blacklisted.

My cell and my partner's are on the same billing contract and it was only a week later that he was informed that the credit limit had been reached and thus his phone would now also been inoperable.

On extensive inquiring (over 3 hours on a land line to a cell number) it was realised that 2 hours after the SIM had been reported MTN allowed international calls to be made on this number. After further enquiries MTN admitted that there had been a system error and that the fault lay on their side.

All well and good... They will not/cannot credit the account as their Financial Department needs to "calculate" plus they are VERY busy. In the interim they could only raise the credit limit so that the mobiles could be used.

Both accounts are now operational, but no credit/settlement has been forthcoming!
