Nokia Lumia 620 Screen broken

I am shocked. I bought a Nokia Lumia 620 on MTN and had it for a couple of months. Today I opened the back cover of my device and the corner of the screen cracked. Its not like a device that fell crack its a single line crack in the corner that can clearly be seen that it happened when I opened the back cover. To me it just looks like a bad design on the part of nokia.

I took the phone to MTN Richards Bay and they actively refused to book the device in saying I damaged it by dropping it or hitting it agains something. If that was true why is there not a SINGLE mark on the cover or scratch on the whole device...

He simply told me it was my negligance and that I will be liable for the repair. I think that is utter nonsense since he is not a technician to have made such claims... I want my phone fixed as its not my negligance that the screen got cracked. The screen doesn't even respond to touches so its totally useless to me now!
