Cell C
New phone battery not exchanged

Telecommunications

I applied and got a contract with cell c on 26 October 2013. They told me to drain the battery and then charge it until full and then it will be fine. I did this but the battery didn't even last for 7 hours. I then charged it overnight and again in the morning within 2 hours it had lost 30% of its battery, this with the mobile data being off so no apps could have been running in the background. I went to them this morning and said that the battery was faulty and they had to replace it. They refused saying that in order to replace the battery they would have to book the WHOLE PHONE in for a repair. Since when does your whole phone need to be booked in for a battery to be replaced? I have a 6 month warranty on that battery according to the warranty booklet so it should have been replaced. And secondly, according to the consumer act I have 7 days to exchange the phone should it be faulty. They also refused to do this by saying that cell c does not comply to this consumer act. ALL companies MUST comply to this act.

I don't want a new phone. The phone i have is perfectly fine. It is just the battery that is faulty and I have a right to exchange it.

Sincerely not happy.
