Telkom
Rude, speaks fluent Afrikaans, refuses to speak it

Telecommunications

Very poor client service at the Telkom Direct shop at the Anajuba Mall in Newcastle this morning (Saturday).

The lady on duty at the Sales Desk (Julie, I think?) helped an older gentleman in Afrikaans but reverted to English when she helped me. When I requested her to please address me in Afrikaans, she became unpleasant and told me in a loud voice there is only one official language in South Africa, namely English.

If she didn't speak to the older gentleman in fluent Afrikaans, I could have accepted the English but she demonstrated she could understand and speak Afrikaans.

She became abusive and very loud - the whole shop was silent!

An elderly lady asked Julie (?) a question in Afrikaans and once again, the lady was answered in fluent Afrikaans!

I find it unacceptable to be treated like this and to be shouted at for something like this. If she really couldn't speak Afrikaans and apologized for that, it would have been acceptable.

Furthermore, earlier this week when I enquired about a WiFi router, this same lady gave me incorrect info re WiFi routers
