A contract with free minutes

I recently upgrade my contract. I was offered free MTN to MTN minutes. This is untrue as when you call another MTN number you Rand value decreases. I then enquired why this was. The free minutes only kick in if you don't have rand value. Therefore it is a false gimmick. As you never actually save on calling MTN numbers as your rand value always drops. If you use your phone for business you don't get the benefit of saving your rand value for other networks.
I am just putting this out there as it is a false gimmick to think you are getting value for your contract but aren't.
I have a number of contracts phones with MTN and have always had help service at the stores. I thought MTN were actually going to give something back. What was I thinking.
