Billed beyond 12 month contract period

I had a 12 month data contract with Cell C which expired November 2011. I called the contact centre to cancel the contract and was told that cancellation can only be done in-store. I had an exam coming up and needed the Internet so I decided that I will cancel in Dec and look for a new deal. Since the start of December 2011, I could not access the Internet, other than the cell C website. Frustrated, I called the call centre again and was told that my contract had expired since the twelve months were up. They assured me that no further amounts will be due by me and offered me once-off data bundle which I declined. I then took a contract with MTN. A statement still came end of Dec. I figured it was due to arrears billing. January another account came; February too. After many frustrating calls to the contact centre, where no one would help and call centre managers never picking up the call when requested, I went to the bank and paid for a stop order. I eventually went in store and cancelled the contract, detailing my issue with the incorrect billing for no service on ghe cancellation form. Cell C gave my account to lawyers; still with them today. I hope you can help sort this out!
