Unreasonable cancellation Fee

After a non-disclosure issue regarding my cell phone contract with Vodacom, I have out of principal decided to cancel the contract as I do not wish to provide business to an entity that does not value there customers. I am then to find out about their cancellation policy, being 75% of the outstanding monthly agreed amounts, is violation of Consumer Protection Act and when their attention has been brought to this fact is simply ignored.

Cell C, MTN and even Virgin have all changed their policy's to be in line with the CPA. There cost for cancellation is the outstanding balance on the handset and in the case of MTN one months further fee. This to me is reasonable as it represents actual costs incurred.

After discussions with numerous call centre agents, who seem uneducated about their own industry, cannot grasp simple logic and have not made any attempt to resolve the issue at hand amicably I am afraid I am forced to turn to the NCC and ombudsman in order to resolve. It is time Vodacom is taken to task through the court system. Vodacom will not receive a single rand more from me.

I strongly urge any readers to choose an alternative service provider!
