MTN want to punish me for upgrading to a lower contract

I wanna upgrade to an Iphone 5 16 gig and take advantage of the special before October 15. MTN says sorry you are have to pay a migration fee of R500! I am migrating from a Anytime 200 to an Anytime 100. Whats the big deal? I have ordered them to not renew my contract as I will rather port to Cell C. Just wanted to let people know about this rip off...
