Cannot Cancel my Contract

My cell phone contract is up for renewal/upgrade. To this end I wanted to call ahead to the Virgin store and confirm they have the phone in stock prior to me taking time off work. The call to canal walk rang and them after more than 5 minutes terminated. This happened on at least 3 occasions.

As Virgin have decided to close down all their shops in the southern suburbs I decided to contact the call centre to cancel my contract and port my number to another service provider.

After entering my cell phone number (which is not pick up by their IVR system), and verifying my ID with an agent, I was put through to the cancellations dept where I was put on hold for about 20 minutes. Again I had to provide my phone number and when asked to verify my ID number (is there IVR system incapable of passing this info from agent to agent) by a "self managed" I chose to terminate the call and try emailing.

While it is still early days, in virgin mobile term, the email seems to have disappear to the abyss of the internet with no confirmation od receipt being sent.

Please just CANCEL or make my number a PREPAID one so I can port to a new network.

Funky and new, no, just the usual service!

Virgin mobile can be summed up in 1 word - Useless
