So I can't receive any calls for a month?

I received a contract phone from Cell C. I asked to have my previous Virgin Mobile number ported, but it wasn't done. I had to call again to request the port. The following morning I could not make or receive any calls, SMS or data. After hours on the phone with Cell C for 3 days, it is still not resolved. Apparently Virgin will not release the number because they claim it is still post-paid despite the fact that I requested to have it changed to prepaid when my contract ended. So now I have been deregistered from the Virgin Network and my number apparently doesn't exist anymore. Nobody wants to accept responsibility, and I am just piling up reference numbers. My clients have not been able to contact me for 3 days and Cell C has said that they cannot reverse the port. Can somebody with some actual authority please step up? This has become ridiculous.
