I have approached the Ombudsman for assistance in getting my contract cancelled with Virgin Mobile -- to what lengths does one have to go to get service delivery from them?

On 1 November, I called in to notify Virgin Mobile that my contract will expire on 1 December and that I am giving them 30 days notice of termination as at 1 December (as per my contract). The call centre agent promised to call me back to confirm -- which never happened. Later that evening, I logged a formal complaint on their website and received automated confirmation detailing that a call centre agent would contact me within 48 hours -- this too never happened.

After numerous attempts to have this issue sorted at the Canal Walk branch (Tygervalley branch closed and Cape Gate under construction), many phone calls to the call centre and even a call to the head office, this issue has still not been resolved. And not a single Virgin Mobile representative/agent has bothered to call me back.

I am appalled by the pathetic customer service, my phone hasn't been operational since 7 November and that too has never been sorted, it's costing me more money to cancel the contract that to have it. Ridiculous!!
