REPAIR OF FAULTY TRACKPAD FOR BLACKBERRY

Telecommunications

My blackberry 9300 was given in on the 25/08/2013 for the repair of a faulty trackpad (Job number 9143491). I was told that if there was any more repairs to be done I would be given a quotation before any repairs could be done. On the job receipt no tick were done under "external damage checklist" but I was aware of the damaged rubber piece on top of my phone. But the phone still worked even with the damaged rubber. I called in today (i.e. 02/09/2013) and vodacom repair centre had informed me that they have quoted me for the repair of the cover (a hectic sum mind you) and that only if I accept the quote then would they repair the cover and trackpad. My problem is that the phone is still under warrantee and the reported fault (faulty trackpad) now cannot be fixed because they tell me that my cover is damaged? What exactly is a warrantee for then? The response I got was that if the phone is physically damaged on the outside then the warrantee falls away. I should have been explained this on 25/08/2013 upon handing in the phone because now so much of my time has been wasted. If this is the response I get from a tycoon like vodacom I will never do business again with them.
