Contract not cancelled!!!

I sent an email to mtn in Jan 2012 to have all my contracts cancelled and to advise me on outstanding amounts. No responded to my email until I got calls from VVM that I was handed over for R14000.00 and R5000. I kept telling them I cancelled my contract eventually this year March I applied for a bond and was told I was listed by MTN. I have sent Claire my email stating that I cancelled my contract in 2012 and as per the consumer protection act my account should have been cancelled I could not use the handset as it is network blocked and MTN should have take back the phone that I still cannot use. Claire then reduced the amount from her side according to her it was 8000 but VVM advised me it was 14000. Claire reduced my amount to 4400 of which I paid on the 30-08-2013 because I need my name removed of ITC as I need to apply for a contract! I have sent numerous emails querying payment of which I feel I should not have paid that much. I should have paid a cancellation fee in jan lat year not until my contracted ended. Mtn should take the phone back because until now I cannot use it as its sim locked. Im appalled at the service received. Im disgusted!!!
