One of my data contracts was due for upgrade and I found a deal in a current Vodacom pamphlet and went to Vodacom4u at Cape Gate centre to do the deal. There I was helped by Corine, who confirmed the deal and ordered my new laptop. I specifically asked her if there is any MS Office loaded on the laptop, together with Windows 8 and she said yes, but only a basic version with Word and Excel. I specifically asked whether it is a trial version, to which she said no. When I returned several days later to collect the laptop, she informed me that the price she had quoted was incorrect and that the contract costs R10 per month more. I obviously queried this and was told that the deal on the brochure is only for new business and not available to existing clients. Now I must hasten to add that it isn't the first time I am confronted with this insanity from Vodacom! They penalise their loyal customers and reward newcomers! Not common practice. It also transpired that the Office program is only a trial (great training for Corine) and no-one could explain to me how to open it anyway! She called to say that the regional manager, Eric Winter, would get back to me. Totally unacceptable!!!
