Billed R23 000 for No Service

I took out a new contract in Sept 2012 and requested that my old one be cancelled. The sales lady logged the cancellation in her system while I sat there. I was billed another 3 months on the cancelled phone and then I refused to pay any more installments until the cancelled phone was taken off my account. All my services have been suspended since then, I have been handed over and sent an account for R23 000. Are you seriously saying that I should pay MTN for a service that I haven't had including charges for a phone that I requested be cancelled? Yes, I have a contract with you that states I must pay you for services but you aren't providing me with any so what now?
