Cancellation of data contract

I currently have a giga 20gb cell c data contract (5gb 15gb midnight data). The network is really /slow/disconnected and I want to cancel my contract with them. They have insisted that I pay a early cancellation fee of over R1700. I cant afford to pay that amount to them. Is there any other alternative?
