Vodacom
Vodacom is giving customers misleading information

Telecommunications

In June 2013 i went to Vodacom Fourways to enquire on the termination date of my contract that i purchased with a Samsung tablet as i wanted to change the contract to a data package only with no handset.

The sales consultant advised thar my contract was due for renewal and i could therefore change it to a data package only with no handset.

surprisingly on my invoices recieved for July and August, i noted that Vodacom still charges me R179.00 handset installment charges. On calling to query the issue i was informed that the installment charges are because i upgraded the package before the contract termination date and will therefore continue to pay for the handset until October.

What this essentially means is that the sales consultant to me by not stating that i would continue to pay for handset installment charges even though i did not take out a new handset. Even when i consitently asked her to confirm that i would only be paying R99 only going forward for that contract.

why does Vodacom enforce polices that prejudice the client and what channels are in place to report such unfair treatment to consumers.
