NO SERVICE: Telkom on 2 complaints - part 1 of 2

I called Telkom's customer care several times before end of July to disconnect my line - 021 556 0474. Each time I ended the call after 15-30 mins. NO ANSWER.
Telkom shop: try have it disconnected there, they weren't able to help me and put me on the line to customer care. After about 15 mins. NO ANSWER.
Begin August, I went to the shop again. They put me through and now the call was answered immediately.
I explained to the operator what happened. She told me that disconnecting my line works on a "month's notice basis". This means that I have to pay about R700 for September also - thus I have to pay around R1 400 just because the Customer care service did not answer their phone.
I stated my unhappiness about this and she asked me for a reference number to proof that I've phoned before. How on earth will I have a reference number if you people don't answer your phones?
This line is still NOT disconnected. Does Telkom now want other people to use my line and bill me for that too? Also, I have no reference number. This "very professional" operator did not give me anything.
What do I have to do to disconnect this line?
