Debit order date change = LOCKED ACCOUNT???!!!

Contacted Vodacom 29/07 to change debit date from 1st of month to 25th, the consultant said that the debit for Aug has been submitted and will go off on 01/08 if not they will double debit on 25/08. On 01/08 no debit was done and I assumed double debit will be done on 25/08. On 06/08 I received msg saying my account will be locked due to non payment. Phoned Vodacom and spoke to consultant who even send me sms confirming they will submit debit for 08/08 and my account will not be locked. I asked if it would be easier if I do EFT and Vodacom said no, they will debit. Morning of 08/08 I received msg confirming the debit will go off, BUT NO DEBIT WAS DONE. I phoned Vodacom AGAIN on 09/08, another consultant confirmed debit was submitted and line will not be locked. 15/08 MY LINE WAS LOCKED!!! Phoned Vodacom AGAIN, after spending over an hour explaining everything to more than 1 person their solution was to do an EFT before unblocking account. HOW CAN VODACOM LOCK MY LINE IF; 1-THEY DIDN'T DEBIT. 2-MORE THAN ONE CONSULTANT CONFIRMED ON RECORDED LINE AND SMS DEBIT WILL BE DONE AND LINE WILL NOT BE LOCKED. 3- I KEPT PHONING VODACOM TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON AND SORT OUT THE ISSUE.
