Vodacom
Samsung S3 LTE

Telecommunications

I upgraded my Vodacom contract in February and received an Samsung S3 Galaxy S3 Lte model with my upgrade. In the first week of having my phone it would loose signal all the time and drop calls. Basically, the mobile network was non existent.

I went to the Vodacom store where they told me this is a common problem with the Samsung S3 LTE model and that I sould switch the mobile network to GSM only. This means my phone will only operate on the slower EDGE (2G) network.

I can't even access 3G and suffer from a very slow network. I asked the Vodacom Store in why they would give me this phone if they were aware of the problem, to which they responded: "it was the only one we had in stock at the moment".

I was not made aware of this problem, nor was I given the opportunity to take the 3G version of the Samsung S3. I am paying nearly R600 a month for network service that i can get from a lower end phone at a much more affordable price.

This is totally unacceptable. I was so excited to have my Samsung S3 LTE, but now I'm considering using it as a paper wight because it is pretty much useless.

Thanks for nothing Vodacom.
