Poor service on contract upgrade

I upgraded my Everyday off-peak contract and while the consultant was completing the upgrade I saw that Vodacom had a special on the phone I was upgrading to. I went back the next day to find out whether I could change my package (to the special) and told that it was possible. They would do it the next day and confirm with me when it was done. I did not receive any phone call and after having to phone 3 times I was told that they would not do the switch. After having to call 3 times more I got hold of the store manager. I was told that I could not cancel the initial upgrade (even though this was a more expensive package which would benefit Vodacom by making more money out of me, and would also benefit me through the benefits I would get).

The store manager implied that they could switch the package, but because no false information was given to me (seeing as no information was given to me) they would not switch my package. He said he felt they operated within company policy and would not do the switch. If it is company policy to not help out a customer when they can, then I am not feeling very good about being a Vodacom customer. Basically saying, we could help you but won't.
