Sony Xperia GO! battery life really BAD

I upgraded recently with MTN and as i am a motorcyclist the saleperson mentioned this new dust and waterproof phone. Having had a Blackberry Bold i decided i would give this Sony Xperia a try as it was about the same size and was water and dust proof. The Xperia Go is not a bad phone however i am having to constantly recharge it during the day as it burns through battery life. I am the operations manager for a software development company and cannot have this problem with battery.

The Phone does not have any latent defects MTN has confirmed that it works and that i should not use applications such as email wifi and bluetooth in order to make battery life last longer what kind of an answer is that. SONY you need to recall this product and come up with a way to maximise battery life or remove it permanently I and others like me are NOT impressed.

I am now in the situation where i am in a 2 year contract with MTN and have a cell phone that i cannot really use. My alternatives? get another contract? Buy a prepaid smart phone and be out of pocked 4k -6k?
