Contacted Cell C/Vitality Mobile call centre on 19/7 asking for new handset and contract to begin 31/7. Was told handset would be delivered in 2- 3 days and I must be available to take delivery. Was going away 22/7 - 28/7 so was advised to call back about 26/7 which I did and placed order. Stressed delivery date because old contract ending 31/7 and phone needed for business. so had arranged number port for 31/7. Called on 30/7 to confirm delivery for next day. Agent told me no record of order. Took at least 10 calls to 6 different people on 31/7 before acknowledged mistake and processed order about 5pm on 31/7 (due date for delivery). Said impossible to accelerate delivery, at best might get phone in 2 days. Asked several times to speak to supervisor but none ever called back. Despite stressing that phone was needed from 31/7 for business, have still only received cursory "sorry" from call centre agent. No attempt by anyone in a position of responsibility to intervene. At time of submission, old phone no longer operative, still no phone and no acknowledgement of inconvenience and potential financial loss caused. Was considering further contracts but not so sure now.
