Non related issue

Took my phone in this morning to have it repaired. It suddenly stopped charging yesterday. (Iphone 5) I am now told because my phone is slightly scuffed at the top that is now seen as out of warranty. The scuff mark has been there for quite a while and the phone has been functioning properly. My deduction is that the charging issue is not related in anyway to the scuff marks. Quoted R3000 for another unit. I feel that this is very unfair - I am not asking for a new phone, I just want my current one to charge like it is supposed to. I have been a loyal customer for ten plus years. Surely you could show me that you want to go the extra mile. #brandfail
