Samsung Galaxy S4 not charging - Without a phone

My phone decided not to charge from last night 13 Aug, So i decided to google it and it is well recognised that there has been incidents where the phone doesn't charge and there is even a video on the web on how to fix it, should you have the spare parts, skill etc. The phone was provided as part of my contract renewal on 23 Jun 2013.
So here's the issue. I know MTN is not responsible for the quality of the products which they promote and sell but surely they can go the extra mile by providing a customer which has loyally supported them for over 6 years with a temporary phone. To think - I will now be without a phone on my birthday if i hand the phone in tonight.
