Vodacom
No Reversing of Vodacom's Mistakes

Telecommunications

I signed a contract with Vodacom for the first time in 8 years. I've been a loyal customer since 2000 - every time I came back from traveling every year I made use of their prepaid services - and not another provider.
I got my contract on November 2, 2012 and on the 9th I was charged R100 because my debit order did not go through. This was my mistake because I should have known that debit orders are not allowed on my account. Vodacom could have let me know that it is not allowed but they choose to let it bounce back from the bank every month and keep stacking the fees. When I signed my contract I opted for e-mail statements but I received my first SNAIL MAIL statement on December 15th, 2012 - AFTER I've been charged another R100 because my debit order did not go through. At this point I was still not made aware by Vodacom or ABSA. If Vodacom have any defense it is the very vague SMS they sent me not explaining any problem.
I'm sure they will show me the fine print waiving it all away but if they take R100 from every subscriber it is a lot of money I think they are essentially from their customers. I'm not the only person I know this kind of thing has happened to.
