Where is my data

I git a cell c sub modem which I loaded with data a while back. I have nt used in a while and when I tried yesterday the connection software could nt find the stick, when I checked the messages found that I needed to update the stick. Did that this morning and when I checked my balance it didn't display the data balance but used up R12 airtime balance that I had in a matter of minutes and I only logged on to hello Peter to write this complaint and couldn't even complete it when it ran out. What's happening???
