Telkom
Exchange congestion, bad service

Telecommunications

The "gold mine area", Parow exchange in CTN, as known by Telkom techs. For the last month, this exchange has been overused, and they keep pushing people on it, or moving users from the old ports to the more stable IMACS ports. So now the rest of us, who pay for the service, has to struggle with ADSL connections at night (200ms) to local servers, because they can't keep up with the demand. Yes they are busy with planning to add a switch or 2 to help with this, when? I have had my ISP and Telkom techs try to assist, Customer Support wasn't so helpful, just giving me the same old stories. When will Telkom actually manage their exchanges better. Some of us actually need to work at night, and without the ability to keep a stable connection to servers or vpn's due to high latency timeouts, who will pay the bills? I'm used to stable -35ms local server latency, even being 4.2km away from exchange, but now the downstream traffic is at 180ms - 800ms. And no one can confirm when this will be resolved, and the 5 year plan is not a solution for the now. There is an exchange less than 1km away from me, but cant use it (panorama medi clinic).
