MTN cuts off service without warning!

I have taken a contract with MTN for a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 at R 229 per month which includes 500 MB of Internet data, when I had checked my account at the 1st of the month I had just over 600 MB of data, so I have browsed the web a bit etc. Yesterday I checked again just to see if I am not over using my data and it was just above 400 MB and suddenly today it is zero. Now this has happened before in the past and MTN would just cut off my service without warning. I need this data for work but I also do use it personally as I only check emails and download forms for work. I would like an explanation as to why I had data yesterday and have none today as I have not used the Internet on my device for any downloads only email and whatsapp.
