Unpatiently waiting for a sim swap

I bought a new phone on Wednesday 26 June and all I wanted was for MTN to make the change from Pay-as-go to Contract and keep my number.
I was told a sim Swap takes between 2-48 hours to activate, it is now Tuesday 02 July, a week has passed and my sim Swap has not gone through! I am sitting with a phone that says "No Service', for a week.
I have been to the MTN Direct store in Menyln and the franchise in Hatfield and all I have are text messages saying that my request has been received and it being processed. What is the issue? If there is an issue why have I not been contacted and been made aware of it? What ever happened to communicating with the client?

Oh yes, one of your call centre agents did contact me to confirm my banking details for the contract! Upon which I explained my dilemma.
Thank goodness I kept my old phone, I would have had no means of cellular communication otherwise.

Care to explain MTN?
