Poor communication

Hi i have cancelled my contract 6 years ago, and now all of a sudden received a sms stating that i am being handed over (after 6 year without any communication). i have call cell c to inform then of this and all they have to say is that i must supply the letter to proof cancellation. now were must i get such a letter, i dont keep such letter for 6 years, this is totally unreasonable to ask especially after such along time.

please help
