Billing nightmare

My telkom line was in March. I reported it the next day, after I spoke to customer care they told me they are not going to replace the lines so I cancelled my services, in April including my ADSL and ISP.
Last week I got a statement in the post for line rental for April and May.
Can anyone tell me why i must pay for a service that is non existing?
In the past week I phoned Telkom customer services two times to sort out this mess but to no avail!
