Cell Upgrade older than when phone first came out

I logged the call below last week and someone did call me 27 may and advised that she will call me the next day with a solution, and today is 17h20 on 29 May and still no answer on the way forward.

I sent in my Galaxy S, as it freeze .after waiting for it for more than 6 weeks, and numerous calls to the HQ to enquire the status, I received it back. After using it for a day, I realized that some of the Functions I could do with the phone before I sent it in for repairs, could not be done any more. That's when I decided to look at the software and after some searching and lots of inquiry; I found out that it is very old software or firmware that is loaded on the phone. Firmware is 2.1-update 1. Kernel Version 2.6.29 root@SE-S608#2 . Baseband version is I9000XXJM2.
What can we do as I need the phone, and it is out of its Guarantee period now, and I am not prepared to wait for it for 6-8 weeks again?
