Mtn
Unfair disconnection, poor treatment

Telecommunications

I was overseas in April/May and lost my credit card. Upon returning to SA, I replaced it.

I received an SMS from MTN on 24 May saying "Your cheque has been returned unpaid by the bank. Contact 808." (My monthly account is paid by debit to my credit card, and has been since 2010, so you can imagine my confusion - who still uses cheques?!) I called MTN. After a while spent trying to EXPLAIN TO the consultant that they did send me an sms, that they needed to update my credit card details. He then told me that they would take a double debit at end May to cater for the missed April payment. Received sms on 25 May saying "Your payment details have been updated." Roll on the weekend.

Woke up this morning (27 May) to find my service disconnected (no outbound sms, calls or data). I called MTN. My service had been suspended due to non-payment. (seriously?) Proceeded to chew the consultant out on their abysmal service, demanded to speak to a manager, was put on hold for 5 minutes, only to be told that no supervisors were available to take my call. Now sit with calls and sms active, but no data. Trying to decide between phoning MTN back or having my fingernails pulled out.
