Telkom Mobile unlawfully refuses to refund me

Telkom Mobile has a portal where one can login to buy data bundles. Sometime in April 2013, I logged in to the portal using my Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone with my 8ta contract sim in it. A number of data bundle options were presented to me and I chose a 2 1GB for a value of R149.
My contract was charged accordingly and R149 was debited. When I tried to login to the internet, I was unable to utilize this data bundle that I have just purchased. I called the callcenter and I was told that I have purchased a wrong data bundle that is actually for prepaid users and Telkom Mobile will not refund my R149 and the data bundle that I have bought can not be transferred to a prepaid data sim in any case.
So, my ask is that, is it legal for Telkom Mobile to take my money without delivering any service? Also, how is it possible that their systems did not detect that I was not supposed to be presented with an option of a prepaid data bundle yet I was on a contract sim card when I was purchasing this data bundle.
I have a feeling that Telkom Mobile has committed a daylight here and I want answers.
