MTN not in line with CPA!

On Friday I applied for a contract. The phone was activated on Sunday, due to personal matters I have to cancel the contract, 1 day later today! I head over to the Secunda branch and I was told I'll have to pay in R8910.79, the phone has only been active for 1 day! I do some research and find that the CPA has clear guidelines in which SP's must operate. I call the MTN call centre and give them the reference number and cite the CPA clauses, AND where MTN chief corporate services officers states that, and I quote; " if subscribers cancel post-CPA contracts, it will charge a cancellation fee of R1 710 for the handset, and a month's subscription fee."

The call centre agent laughs when I quote this coming from the mouth of 1 of MTN's leaders... and I get put through to retentions where I have to explain my situation again! She then speaks to her supervisor who then affirms, I must pay R8910.79 for a device I have not even used for 24hrs straight!

I was told the supervisor will give me a call and I'm not holding my hopes up. The blatant disregard for the CPA by MTN staff and their subsequent careless attitude to NEW clients like myself is shocking.

MTN is NOT in line wih the CPA!
