I recently upgraded my MTN contract to that of an even more expensive contract, after having been reasonably content with the Network. The upgrade took place on the 4th of May 2013. It was at first a quick and painless process and was assured, strike that, PROMISED a new Samsung Galaxy S4 to arrive WITHIN the following 2 weeks. Time went on, with no word from this particular MTN branch; only to later find out that a singular VOICE MAIL message was left on the SECONDARY contact number (that of my boyfriend) that the phone has arrived and is ready for pick up. Those mentioned were the only details provided. I went all the way to this MTN store to go pick up my phone this afternoon (17/05/13) - only to find out that my phone HAS BEEN GIVEN AWAY. I was met with the most unapologetic notice of sorts that they only keep phones for twenty-four hours, and that MY phone was given away. ALSO that I must wait ANOTHER 2 weeks for a new phone.
To summarise:
1) Certainly the incorrect procedure was followed to contact me
2) ZERO warning was given that my phone will be given away
3) A further waiting period for a new phone has been unforgivably forced upon the client, after a mistake on MTN's behalf
