2mbps gone 384kbps

Telecommunications

In Feb 2013 I moved house, therefore I had had to move my line. I eventually got Telkom to install my line and promptly contacted Afrihost, with who I have been for three years (prior to that I was with Axxess, who Afrihost owns anyway). From day one the line was installed I had issues with my speeds. I sent emails, made phone calls, was asked for countless and countless speed tests and in the end I got frustrated. My (up to) 2048kbps line went down to 384kbps during working hours. This was due to "balancing". I can appreciate that. But in the following months, my line speeds did not improve in the evenings, but over weekends I had normal to good line speeds. Every time I sent an email or logged a query, the responding person has no idea what has happened before. I am saying goodbye to Afrihost today as I don't think their support staff knows the meaning of the word "support"
Prior to the house move I had perfect speeds within my line's capability, but once I had to start complaining, it honestly felt like I was dealing with people who do not communicate within the company. Constantly asking for the same thing that I had sent a day earlier to on of their colleges.
Sorry Afrihost.
