Bad service

Bad service from mtn, im using the samsung s3 i needed a software update which i went to the mtn store in canal walk i was charged R300 just to do on update by a samsung guy (faani), and yet a buddy of mine did his software at the samsung store by someone called angelo with no charge, why is mtn charging and samsung is nt when mtn suppose to be 'free'.
