Weak internet signal

I have experienced problems with connecting to the Internet for the past few weeks. I have a cell phone contract as well as a tablet with mtn and both devices have only picked up an 'edge' signal for two weeks now.
When i got my tablet 3 months i had excellent signal and my internet was very fast but now i can't do ANYTHING on my tablet. So frustrating! If I knew I would be left with edge i would never have taken a tablet. It is useless without proper internet!
I contacted mtnsp but they cannot seem to resolve this problem for me.
