Illing me for nothing

I signed a contract with the gym and they said that its going to be free on the first month of which i ddnt even go to the gym, then at the end of the month they billed me from my account, then i went therr to query about it & the fitness trainer did not give me a good customer service & ever since i have never went there ever even once but they tell me that im owing, when i want to cancel they tell me theat i must pay R250 & come with a new member to replace me, of which its their duty to do that, im really not happy at all.
